Redmi K80 Pro key specs leak reveals improved telephoto camera, ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor, price hike

The rumoured roadmap of upcoming Redmi phones for the Chinese market includes the Redmi K70 Ultra, the Redmi Note 14 series, and the Redmi K80 series. The K70 lineup included three models, such as the K70e, K70, and K70 Pro. Hence, it is likely that the K80 series may comprise multiple models. Rumours surrounding the K80 lineup claim that it will debut in November of this year. New leaks that have emerged about the Redmi K80 Pro claim that it will have a couple of new upgrades, including the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. However, the device is also expected to carry a costlier price tag than its predecessor.

In a new Weibo post, tipster Digital Chat Station has seemingly mentioned the key details of the Redmi K80 Pro without mentioning its name. However, the comments section of the post suggests that he could be talking about the K80 Pro.

The leak suggests that the Redmi K80 Pro may arrive with a flat display that offers a 2K resolution. Under the hood, it will have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. While the K70 Pro featured a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom support, the K80 Pro may feature a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom support.

Another tech blogger from China asserted that the device will also feature an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint scanner. While the K70 Pro was made available with a starting price of 3,299 CNY, the tech blogger is of the view that with the inclusion of upgraded specs, the K80 Pro will be costlier than its predecessor. He added that as the cost of key components rises, manufacturers may need to make strategic compromises.
