Apple’s iPhone 17 Air Smartphone Possible Rear Panel Design and Few Expected Key Specs Revealed

As per what previous updates have already revealed, Apple, the Cupertino-based tech maker, will be introducing a new iPhone 17 Air model in its flagship iPhone 17 series this year instead of the plus model, and while we recently came across the expected thickness and battery range of this upcoming device, via a new update, its possible rear panel design and other key specs have been revealed.

Here’s more about it.

Apple iPhone 17 Air – Possible Rear Panel Design and Expected Key Specs

This update has been shared via a tipster (Experience more) on the Weibo platform, and according to what have been revealed, the iPhone 17 Air could be arriving with a similar design when compared with (certain) iPhone 17 series models. Based on the possible rear panel design image, it is suggested to feature an integrated middle frame, which could be a metal body (or not), and a pill-shaped projected horizontally-placed camera module is pointed out to be present at the top of the rear panel.

Speaking more, the pill-shaped camera module is revealed to feature a single rear camera at the left side, and on the right, an LED flash and microphone hole can be spotted. However, even if certain similarities are there with respect to the other three iPhone 17 series models, unlike the iPhone 17 Air, the three other smartphones could be having an integrated aluminium frame and glass back panel. To add, the glass back panel is to ensure wireless charging, and unfortunately the iPhone 17 Air may not support wireless charging.

[A rear panel design image of the iPhone 17 Pro model has also been shared along to depict this difference, featuring three triangularly-placed camera sensors inside the rectangular-shaped camera module with rounded corners, as well as the glass back area for wireless charging.]

Other expected specs of the iPhone 17 Air include the A19 processor, 6.6″ display screen with the Dynamic Island, 8GB RAM, single speaker unit, 3K+ mAh battery, and likely no physical SIM card slot. Furthermore, the thickness at its thinnest point is reportedly 5.5 mm.

Apple’s biggest competitor, Samsung, also has a new ultra-thin model in this year’s Galaxy S25 series – Galaxy S25 Slim, and it is said to be unveiled today on the 22nd of January 2025 at the Galaxy Unpacked event. On the other hand, Apple is probably going to launch its iPhone 17 series in September (or October) 2025 as it always does.

Stay tuned for more updates.
