Swarm satellites, a big relief to the declining Earth’s magnetic field

Earth’s magnetic field is an important factor on our planet. It is an massive force that protects us from cosmic radiation from the Sun and it varies both in strength and direction. However, in the recent studies, it has been shown that the position of the north magnetic pole is changing rapidly.

From the last 200 years, the magnetic field has lost almost 9% of its strength globally. Eventually, the magnetic intensity between Africa and South America has been lowered.

Accordingly, the minimal field strength in this area has been dropped to around 24,000 to 22,000 nanoteslas. And from the last five years, a second land of minimum intensity has been appeared in the southwest of Africa.

Hence, the scientists have developed Swarm satellites, which are designed to identify and measure the various magnetic signals which makes Earth’s magnetic field. The reduced magnetic intensity is developing vigorously. However, due to the Swarm satellites which investigates the development of these areas. Now, the necessary step is to identify the processes in Earth’s core which are compelling these changes.
