USA government provides free internet services to the rural households

USA government has announced low-income Americans may have access to the free internet services via a combination of government subsidies. This news was announced by Biden during a speech in an event in the Rose Garden of the White House. Consequently, Biden stated that the high-speed internet will be accessed for the low-income Americans.

20 internet companies in USA have been agreed to give Internet on discount to the low income people. These companies are providing free 100Mbps plus internet service to the people.

Almost a 50GB game can be downloaded in just an hour. This initiative can make millions of households in USA, allowance for the free service. Other related programs consists the Free and Reduced Price Lunch program. This program ensures low-income families with children to have internet to complete schoolwork.

Last year, a $1tn infrastructure package was started by the Congress which included $14.2bn funding. Consequently, for the Affordable Connectivity Program that gives around $30 monthly subsidies on internet services.

Many rural areas has less or only a single internet service provider due to price hike. Hence, this program will provide much less bills for those who qualify the terms of this program. For signing up for this program, GetInternet.gov site can be used. Also, government agencies will be contacting the households to qualify in the program.
