Travis Head tested positive for Covid-19: will not play Ashes series for now

Australian Batsman Travis Head tested positive for Covid-19 and will not play in the fourth Ashes Test against England next week.
The swashbuckling Travis Head will stay in Melbourne and be isolated for seven days after his 152 in the first Test at Brisbane.
“Travis returned a positive Covid-19 result this morning,” Cricket Australia stated.
As tweeted by the Cricket Australia account, Mitchell Marsh, Nic Maddinson, and Josh Inglis have been called into the squad as cover, but Usman Khawaja is likely to replace Head and play his first Test since the 2019 Ashes.

In addition to Head, England’s under-pressure coach Chris Silverwood was also ruled out of the Sydney Test after a family member failed a test.
Since Monday, when a PCR testing regime was implemented after the virus was first detected during the Boxing Day Test, seven positives have been recorded from the touring party – three support staff members and four family members.
After winning the first three Tests – in Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne – Australia has already retained the Ashes and is now seeking a sweep of England in the best-of-five series.
