The German Consumer Group VZBV files a litigation against Tesla; know why!

The Federation of German Consumer Organisations, VZBV has filed a litigation against Tesla at the Berlin state court. VZBV has accused Tesla of providing false climate statements and lacking information related to the vehicle’s surveillance cameras.

The carmaker was accused of not informing the Tesla customers that the use of camera’s sentry mode was against the European data privacy laws.

Consequently, the allowance of such surveillance system showed disparity in the approval procedures for the automated driving functions in Germany. Along with the data protection rules, to use this function was impossible to the drivers, risking fines. Tesla is also accused for misleading the clients with their advertisements that it’s car acclaims the climate benefits.

Verbraucherzentrale Bundesverband (VZBV), is a non-governmental organisation constituting over 41 other German consumer associations. It acts as a strong voice on behalf of all the consumers in Germany. One of its main objective is to improve transparency in production.
