Airtel Rs. 49 Plan

Vodafone Idea, VI had introduced two new cheap plans of Rs. 17 and Rs. 59 recently and to compete with the brand, Airtel has also introduced a new Rs. 49 plan.

If you have been an Airtel user for a long time, you might probably be aware of an Rs. 49 plan that the brand previously had, which offered users talk-time, data, and SMS benefits. The newly introduced Rs. 49 plan is not the same and is entirely different.

Speaking about Airtel’s new Rs. 49 plan, the plan only offers its users a data benefit of 6GB for a period of just 1 day. Users are not offered any call benefit or SMS benefit with the plan. For those of you who didn’t know, the previous Rs. 49 plan was increased to a price of Rs. 99, and currently, the plan is available at a much higher price of Rs. 155.

Now even if Airtel had launched the Rs. 49 plan to compete with VI, VI’s  Rs. 17 and Rs. 57 plans are different from Airtel’s plan. The Rs. 17 plan offers VI users unlimited data benefits from 12 AM midnight to 6 AM and has a day’s validity. The Rs. 57 plan also offers its users the same data benefit but for a longer period of 7 days.

What gives Airtel an advantage here is that the Airtel plan can be availed at any time of the day but the VI plan can only be availed at midnight, limiting its benefit to a particular time of the day. The obvious drawback is that, Airtel only offers a total of 6GB of data while VI users enjoy unlimited data benefits and, comparing the Rs. 49 plan with that of the Rs. 17 plan, Airtel’s plan is priced higher.
