Elon Musk and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a video conversation and discussed a variety of topics, including the digital economy and Turkey’s National Space Program.

According to Turkiye’s Communications Directorate, President Erdogan and Musk discussed cooperation between Turkiye’s public and private sector organizations, as well as Musk’s firms, in a variety of disciplines, including satellite and space technologies.

 

Electric vehicles, long-term investments, and strategies to deepen existing cooperation were also discussed.

 

Besides joint steps that can be taken regarding lithium batteries of Turkiye’s first domestic electric vehicle TOGG, the process of launching Turkiye’s Turksat 5B communications satellite into orbit was also discussed.

Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, paid a visit to Turkiye in November 2017, which paved the way for collaboration on the use of the company’s rocket launchers.

Turkiye’s fifth-generation satellite Turksat 5A was just launched by SpaceX using a Falcon 9 rocket from the company’s Cape Canaveral base in Florida.

 

Turkiye launched the Turksat 5-A satellite into space in January with the help of SpaceX.
