Samsung Reportedly Begins the One UI 8.5 Internal Development for its Galaxy S23 Series

Previous updates have already revealed many of the features that can be expected on the next Android 16-based One UI 8.5 custom skin and now, it has been reported that Samsung has begun its internal development for the Galaxy S23 series.

One UI 8.5 Internal Development for Galaxy S23 Series Underway?

As per the latest update shared by the X tipster @tarunvats33, Samsung is said to have begun the internal development of the One UI 8.5 custom skin for its 2023-released Galaxy S23 series flagships. Additionally, the same tipster also notes that its build version is ‘S918BXXU9FYJ3’, and it might take some time for this build to appear on the brand’s official test server.

Looking into previous updates, the One UI 8.5 custom skin is going to bring major upgrades this time, and these include the Expanded Dark Theme, Forced App Icon Theming, Lock Screen Widgets with third party support, Native Step Tracking via Health Connect, Granular Haptic Feedback Control, and PDF Annotation and Editing. Phone app UI improvements, refreshed battery graph UI, new album art transition effect in the media player, adaptive clock, weather effect, floating search bar, bold status bar icon, new software update download page, system-wide 3D app icons, Weather app with new gradient coloring, and redesigned menus have all been revealed as well for Samsung’s One UI 8.5 custom skin.

Just to add, the Galaxy S26 series which is most likely to debut early next year with the One UI 8.5 custom skin onboard was recently reported to bring in the same line-ups as previous years, and consumers can expect the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra models this time too (no Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Edge).
