Microsoft warns about a blue screen error to Windows 11 users caused due to April updates

A few days back, Microsoft warned its customers about a blue screen error risk for Windows 11 users with its recent updates. According to advisory updates for the KB5055523 April cumulative update and the KB5053656 March preview update, this known issue affects devices running Windows 11, version 24H2.
After installing Windows updates released since March and restarting the device, users may encounter a blue screen exception with error code 0x18B, indicating a SECURE_KERNEL_ERROR. Microsoft has resolved this issue via Known Issue Rollback (KIR), a feature that reverses buggy non-security updates delivered via Windows Update.
This fix will apply automatically to all home, non-managed enterprise devices and business devices not managed by IT departments over 24 hours, while the affected users are advised to restart their devices that ensure that the fix is applied faster. Coming to the Windows enterprise managed devices that are affected by this issue, admins are advised to install the Windows 11 24H2 and Windows Server 2025 KB5053656 250412_03103 Known Issue Rollback Group Policy.
The blue screen issue was first spotted after the March 2025 updates, but it was not acknowledged by the company at that time. Now, after the Windows 11 April 2025 updates, more users reported the same issue.
