iOS 26 to read OTPs from third-party apps like WhatsApp and Gmail

Recently, Apple introduced its all-new iOS 26 at the WWDC 2025 event. This major update was revealed to bring a new beautiful design, intelligent experiences, and improvements to the apps users rely on every day. iOS 26 features were made available for testing through the Apple Developer program, and a public beta was said to be made available through the Apple Beta Software Program next month.
A user called @immasiddx on the X platform revealed that iOS 26 now reads OTPs from third-party apps like WhatsApp and Gmail.

Seems like with this redesigned and renamed OS, Apple has fixed the long-mentioned issue for users. With this capability, users will not have to switch between apps to get OTP.
iOS 26: Features
It arrives with a new, beautiful look. It’s crafted with Liquid glass- a new translucent material that reflects and refracts its surroundings, bringing greater focus to content and delivering a new level of vitality across controls, navigation, app icons, widgets, and more. The new design extends to the Home Screen and Lock Screen.
Live messages are integrated into messages, FaceTime, and Phones, and visual intelligence extends to a user’s iPhone screen, which recognizes when a user is looking at an event and suggests adding it to their calendar. Genmoji and Image Playground provide users with even more ways to express themselves, a new set of shortcuts enabled by Apple Intelligence, Apple Intelligence automatically identifies and summarizes order tracking details from emails and more.
iPhone app now offers a unified layout that combines Favourites, Recents, and Voicemails all in one place. Call Screening builds on Live voicemail and helps eliminate interruptions by gathering information from the caller, in Messages users can now screen messages from unknown senders while iOS 26 also offers enhancements to conversations, including custom backgrounds and the ability to create polls. It also brings enhancements to CarPlay, updates to Apple Music, Maps and Wallet and some powerful accessibility features.
