Google Revealed to be Testing a New Desktop View Feature for Android 16

The California-based tech maker – Google is now revealed to be testing a new Desktop View feature for its next Android 16 operating system. On examining the Android 16 beta 3 version, reportedly a new ‘Enable desktop experience features’ option was spotted, which has suggested that this will soon be added onto the Developer Options page.
Here’s more about it.
New Desktop View Feature Coming to Android 16?
As per a new update (received via Android Authority), Google is pointed out to bring a new Desktop View feature on the Android 16 operating system which will be coming out this year in 2025. Even though there is already a Desktop Mode feature available on Android, it is intended primarily for developers testing app behavior in free form windows, and it is concealed within the Developer Options. Also, it does not offer a true Desktop Mode experience to users.
The brand is said to have been working on improving its Desktop Mode, and basic desktop windowing capabilities were introduced in the first Android 15 OS quarterly update. As mentioned above, in the Android 16 beta 3 update, the brand has actually left clues which points out that a new ‘Enable desktop experience features’ option will be soon made available on Developer Options. Furthermore, these desktop viewing features are likely to be provided only on secondary displays, or may be on both the device as well as secondary displays. So far, the feature is not in a working state as a result of a bug.
Probably, the brand may bring more improvements and feature additions to its Desktop View mode, and as Desktop View could likely be a placeholder name, a name change can also be expected. Hopefully, with Android 17 of 2026, the Desktop View may be made accessible to users without having to toggle the Developer Options.
