Sonos Move 2 key specs and first look leaked ahead of launch, will arrive in market in late September

Sonos is on its way to launch a new fully portable speaker with some major updates in the same body. This is about the Sonos second generation Move that will be known as Sonos Move 2 rather than Move(Gen2).

Its exclusive features have been revealed by The Verge with a product image leaving little to the imagination. This portable speaker still weighs six pounds and its image suggests there won’t be any major change in the body also. But machinery seems to have been majorly touched to improve it in terms of sound, battery, and controls.

The same body of the speaker will no longer mono output but will deliver stereo playback and the credit goes to dual-angled tweeters. Things that have not changed include its woofer that handles base frequencies and Automatic Trueplay that optimizes sound when its position is changed.

Its playback time has made a long jump from 10 hours in first-generation speakers to up to 24 hours of playtime in second-generation speakers. The Move 2 has been designed in such a way that it uses less energy when idle, eventually giving it more playtime than ever before. Its revised touch controls have been inspired by this year’s Era 100 and Era 300 including the volume slider.

Audiophiles will also be able to use Move 2 to play Bluetooth audio across the rest of the Sonos system which was earlier not there with the first generation Move speakers. It will also support a line in audio over its USB C port that will also let users charge their phones if they are outdoors. Some other notable changes include a detachable power adapter, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0, and a new switch on the back for disabling voice assistants.

As per the report by The Verge, the speakers will be available in black, white, and olive. It will be available for $449 in the United States and will be available for release in late September.
