The momentum was created by Ishan Kishan early on and India carried it throughout the match. The opening stand of 111 runs between Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma laid the foundation for the match. Then Shreyas Iyer came in and provided the finishing touch with 57 off 28 balls. The score of India was 199/2 at the end.

Sri Lanka got off to a bad start after losing Nissanka off the very first ball. Since then, things have been quite downhill for them. The team kept losing wickets at regular intervals and never got going. They ended up losing by 62 runs. The Indian bowlers were clever with their pace variations and disciplined too.
