Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite is coming to India in 2022; Pre-Book your connection now!

Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite internet service is coming to India and interested people can now pre-book their connection. SpaceX, n aerospace company that operates the Starlink service was founded by Musk, who also owns US-based Tesla, Inc.

The announcement was made days after Tesla debuts in India with its electric vehicles which were confirmed in December 2019. They are soon going to build a factory to commence the manufacturing process. An office is however set up in Bangalore.

According to its website, Starlink is targeting its India launch sometime in 2022.  Starlink is offering speeds between 50-150 Mbps and by the end of 2021 Elon Musk revealed that speed this speed will be doubled to 300 Mbps.

Most of the major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and others seem to be covered. To know the exact coverage details and to see if your address is covered, you can head over to the website and enter your details to see if you can pre-book now and if the connection would be available in your area.

Starlink has started pre-bookings for Indian addresses. The price has been set at a refundable amount of $99 (approx. ₹7,000- 7,300) towards a deposit for the service. Starlink accepts payments via debit and credit cards, as well as Apple Pay. This payment is for the Starlink equipment that will be installed at your given address to access Starlink’s internet service.

After making this payment, your priority access gets reserved in your location. In case if you change your mind after paying, you can still get your money back.

Musk also said that the Starlink project will cover “most of the Earth” by the end of 2021.
