Latest Samsung Galaxy M47 5G – Gets Up to INR 8,000 Price Hike in India
Samsung officially launched its Galaxy M47 5G smartphone in India on the 29th of June 2026, following which the device was scheduled to go on sale starting from the 4th of July 2026. At the time of its launch, the smartphone was introduced in three storage options of 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB, and 8GB/256GB, carrying respective price tags of INR 25,999, INR 28,999, and INR 33,999.
But with the special launch pricing and an additional launch coupon discount of INR 1,000, customers were able to purchase these three storage variants at effective prices of INR 22,999, INR 25,999, and INR 30,999, respectively. However, just around a week after the smartphone went live on sale, Samsung has significantly increased its pricing in the Indian market.
As per the details available on Amazon India, the 6GB/128GB storage variant of the Samsung Galaxy M47 5G is now priced at INR 32,999, while its 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB storage variants are listed at INR 36,999 and INR 41,999, respectively. If we exclude the special launch pricing and launch coupon offer, this translates to a price hike of INR 7,000 on the base variant and INR 8,000 on the remaining two variants.
Such frequent increases in smartphone pricing are making devices increasingly expensive for Indian customers, especially when smartphones have become more of a necessity than a luxury in the present digital era.
A recent report had also urged the Government of India to reduce the GST levied on smartphones priced under INR 25,000 from the existing 18% to around 5%. The report highlighted that smartphones have now become essential for communication, education, financial services, and accessing various government facilities.
The rising pricing of smartphones is largely being attributed to increasing component and memory costs, with the growing demand from AI data centres reportedly putting additional pressure on the global supply chain.
