Google tests a dedicated fashion and lifestyle discovery experience within Google Pay; Feature rolling out to limited users in India

Google has officially started a pilot program where users can now use the Discover tab in Google Pay to find fashion and lifestyle products tailored for them.

Discover fashion & lifestyle trends on Google Pay

Powered by Google AI, this feature personalises your feed to help you explore trends, find inspiration, and discover products or items you love.

With the Discover tab, you can:

  • Explore products and YouTube videos tailored to your style and preferences based on your consented Google activities.
  • Use Google AI to virtually try on products and see how they look on you before you buy.
  • Upload a photo or scan a real-world item to find similar products instantly.

While the discovery process occurs within Google Pay, purchases are not processed directly on the platform. Clicking on an item directs you to the third-party merchant’s storefront, where checkout is completed via any payment method accepted by that retailer.

To personalise your feed:

  • You can personalise your preferences by reacting to items in your feed. Tap the emoji icons on a product to see more or fewer such items.
  • To modify a past preference, navigate to the More options menu on the Discover homepage and select “Your activity”. You can view the chronological list of your previous reactions and edit them as needed. Deselecting a reaction will remove that product from your list and reset its influence on your feed.

Do note that before using this capability, you must be signed into a personal Google Account and you must have Web & App Activity and Search Personalisation turned on.

Availability

The feature is currently rolling out to a limited set of users in India.
