Disney Star Network renewal plans: remain Bullish on rights renewal for IPL, BCCI & ICC rights

For the BCCI, this is great news. In terms of the renewal of IPL, BCCI, and ICC rights, Disney Star Network will remain “BULLISH”. The Walt Disney Company India & Star India’s President, K Madhavan, said that the company will continue to invest heavily in SPORTS-RIGHTS.
“Sports business is in investment mode for us, and we will not hesitate to invest heavily. We will be optimistic about all rights renewals. We have more than 60% market share in sport, which we want to continue to have ”.

The tender for the media rights to the IPL will be published in February. The BCCI will end its new broadcast in time for the IPL to begin in 2022.

The three rights will be renewed within the next 12 months, and according to Madhavan Disney Star Network, they see great value in doing so.

BCCI’s Media Rights Bidding – IPL 2022: In the meantime, the BCCI will launch its long-awaited MEDIA RIGHTS tender in February for the sale of IPL’s next five-year rights. According to sources, the board plans to complete the sales process before the start of IPL 2022.

Global financial consultancy KPMG has nearly completed the process of selling rights, and the bidding will begin in the 2nd or 3rd week of February.

The BCCI had previously used the same process for the sale of India Cricket and BCCI securities sponsorship rights with good results. IPL media rights are likely to be re-adopted by the council for the period 2023-2027 by E-AUTION.
