X Reportedly Testing New Feature to Display Where an Account Is Based

X new profile features

X is reportedly working on a new set of profile-related features, including one that will allow users to identify the country an account is based in.

In a recent post on X, Nikita Bier, Head of Product at X, confirmed the development, saying:

“As part of that, we’re experimenting with displaying new information on profiles, including which country an account is based in, among other details.”

Bier further explained that the feature is currently being tested internally and will initially appear on a few X team members’ profiles to gather feedback before a wider rollout. He also mentioned that X is aiming to reduce inauthentic engagement on the platform through these changes.

In the same post, he shared a screenshot showcasing the redesigned profile section. The image revealed details such as the date joined, account location, username history, and how the account is connected, whether via the App Store, Play Store, or web.

Meanwhile, rumours suggest that users may be given the option to hide their account location. However, if enabled, the profile will display a note indicating that the user has chosen to hide this information.

More details about the upcoming features are expected to surface in the coming weeks as X continues to refine its testing phase.
