Starting September 30, Samsung Gallery will no longer sync directly with Microsoft OneDrive

Are you also using your Samsung Gallery with OneDrive for backup? Recently, Microsoft announced via its support page that starting September 30, 2026, new users will be able to link their Samsung Gallery and OneDrive apps.

Samsung Gallery will no longer sync directly with Microsoft OneDrive

From September 30, 2026, new users will not be able to link their Samsung Gallery and OneDrive accounts. All photos stored in OneDrive will disappear from your Samsung Gallery app.

Your photos and videos already stored in OneDrive will remain safe and unchanged, and will be accessible from all your devices where OneDrive is available.

All existing Samsung Gallery and Microsoft OneDrive-linked users should use OneDrive camera roll backup to continue backing up new photos and videos and to access any previous photos backed up via the OneDrive app.

How to turn Camera backup on?

  • Open the OneDrive app
  • Log in with your Microsoft account if you are not already logged in. This may be different from your Samsung account
  • Tap your Account Profile in the top left of the app
  • Select Camera backup
  • Ensure the correct account is selected
  • Turn Camera backup on
  • Grant access to photos and videos if prompted

To review your camera backup settings, storage usage and permissions you can go to the OneDrive app or through your device’s OS settings.
