FASTag users in India will now be able to switch their issuer bank without replacing the physical FASTag sticker installed on their vehicle, thanks to the newly introduced OneTag FASTag portability system.

OneTag – FASTag Portability
The new OneTag system was launched by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari at the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai.
With OneTag, users will be able to retain the same FASTag, Tag ID, and vehicle registration number while moving their FASTag service from one participating issuer bank to another.
The portability facility will be available through the Rajmargyatra mobile application and several banks have alaready joined the system, including SBI, ICICI Bank, and Airtel Payments Bank.
Speaking of the process, users will first have to open the Rajmargyatra app and check whether their existing FASTag is eligible for portability.
Users will then have to provide their consent for portability and select a participating issuer bank. After completing the verification and onboarding process with the new bank, the selected issuer will take over the FASTag service.
Notably, if there are any pending transactions, refunds, or verification related to the previous account it will be handled by the existing issuer and if you have any pending issues with the current issuer, you wont be able to port.
Once the process is completed, NPCI will update the issuer details on the existing NETC network, while toll plazas will not need to make any changes to their existing systems.
The OneTag FASTag portability system has been jointly developed by Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL) and National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
