mAadhaar App Retiring Soon as UIDAI Urges Users to Switch to the New Aadhaar App With Enhanced Privacy Controls

Those who are still using the mAadhaar app may soon have to switch to a new application, as the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has officially announced the retirement of the existing mAadhaar app. In its place, the statutory authority has introduced the new Aadhaar App, which is said to offer enhanced privacy controls and an improved digital identity experience.

mAadhaar App to Retire Soon; UIDAI Introduces New Aadhaar App

As per the details officially shared by Unique Identification Authority of India via its official X account, the existing mAadhaar app is soon going to retire, although the authority has not yet revealed an exact timeline for its discontinuation. In place of it, UIDAI has now introduced the new Aadhaar App, which is designed to offer features such as QR-based Aadhaar sharing, enhanced privacy controls, and seamless access to Aadhaar-related services. Additionally, the newly-announced application is said to make the overall digital identity experience simpler and more convenient for users.

Speaking more about the features of the new Aadhaar App, apart from QR-based Aadhaar sharing support, the app is also revealed to offer offline verification, authentication history tracking, and biometric lock/unlock controls directly through smartphones. Along with these features, the application will also allow users to add multiple Aadhaar profiles of their family members using the same mobile number as well.

At the time of writing, both the mAadhaar app and the newly-introduced Aadhaar App are currently available via the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store platforms. Users who wish to switch to the new Aadhaar App can simply head over to their respective app stores and search for the application manually. Alternatively, users can also directly visit the official app listing pages through the links shared by UIDAI – Google Play Store(compatible with Android 9 or later) and Apple’s App Store (compatible with iOS 16 or later).
