Is your computer slowing down when YouTube is open? This may be due to a YouTube glitch

Are you also witnessing laggy YouTube videos or slow loading in your browser? Well, if you think this is due to a fault in your system or browser, then you might be wrong, as various users around the world are going through the same issues.

In late April 2026, users started complaining about laggy YouTube videos and slower loading times in the browsers (specifically Firefox). And after that, more complaints like this started surfacing online, with Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome users also reporting the same. With these complaints, it is now assumed that the issue is with YouTube itself.

One user posted on Reddit about facing an issue with YouTube stuttering after installing the latest Firefox update. Followed by this were comments from the other users who mentioned that YouTube using 100% of their GPU and completely freezes their browser, or YouTube using 300% of their CPU.

According to a report by Tom’s Hardware, Mozilla’s bug-detecting tool, Bugzilla, has revealed that YouTube’s buttons for liking, subscribing and sharing a video might be raising these concerns due to constant trial for a clear layout.

It is pointed out that there is a bug in the platform’s interface code that may be trapping browsers in an endless layout recalculation loop. YouTube has not reacted to such claims for now.
