iPhone users can now create custom ringtone with GarageBand; Here are the steps

What if you get to hear a preferred/customized song or an audio file when you get a call on your iPhone? Well, with GarageBand, this is possible as you can create custom ringtones on your iPhone.

How to create a custom ringtone on your iPhone?

  • If you don’t have GarageBand, download it for free from the App Store
  • Touch and hold the GarageBand app on your Home Screen, then tap Create New Audio recording
  • When GarageBand opens, tap the Tracks button at the top of the screen
  • Tap the instrument icon on the left to select the track, then tap the Loops Browser button at the top of the screen
  • Tap the Files tab (If the file you would like to use isn’t in the list, you may need to add it from the Files app)
  • Touch and hold an audio file
  • Drag the file to the left side of your screen to return to the tracks view and drop it in the top track
  • Pinch to zoom out so the full song is shown on the screen
  • Tap the track to select it and drag the handles at the edges of the track to adjust the length of the song to 30 seconds or less. (You can also touch and hold the edges of a track to open the Precision Editor)
  • When you finish adjusting the length, tap the navigation button in the top-left corner of the screen and tap My Songs
  • In the browser, tap the More button in the top right corner, then tap Select
  • Select the song you just created and tap the Share button in the bottom left corner of your screen
  • Next, tap the ringtone
  • Tap the Name field
  • Enter a new name for the ringtone, then tap Export
  • If the ringtone is longer than 30 seconds, follow the prompts that appear onscreen. If it’s 30 seconds or less, in the menu that appears, tap Use sound as..
  1. Then select Standard Ringtone to play the song whenever someone calls
  2. Standard Text Tone to play the song when you receive a text message
  3. Assign to contact to play the song when a specific person calls
