Apple x Anthropic Partnership to Bring Out an AI Coding Platform?

Last year in 2024, Apple had announced its very own AI-powered coding tool for Xcode – Swift Assist, and it was intended for roll-out in the same year itself to developers. However, it did not happen and the internal engineers at Apple also complained about its lack of efficiency pointing out that it hallucinates, makes up information, and altogether slows down the app development process.

Reports have now arrived claiming that Apple is partnering with Anthropic to develop a new ‘vibe-coding’ platform which will be relying on AI to write, edit, as well as test codes. Speaking more, it is said that this system will be a new version of Xcode and will be integrating Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet model onto it. Also to add, Apple is planning to roll it out internally and nothing about its public availability has been decided yet (according to what people with knowledge about the matter revealed).

Apple and Anthropic Partners to Build an AI Coding Platform

It should be noted that Apple even though it was reluctant to use AI for software creation initially is already relying on OpenAI’s ChatGPT capabilities for Apple Intelligence, while it has also been added that Google’s Gemini may be integrated as an alternate option. Also, among all the LLMs out there, Claude from Anthropic is considered to be the best in terms of programming, and it is already in use on other vibe coding platforms like Cursor and Windsurf too.

Stay tuned for more updates.
