The American tech giant – Google has brought out MedGemma as a new AI model designed to work with medical texts as well as medical images. MedGemma – Latest AI Model from Google for Medical Use
As indicated, MedGemma is a collection of Gemma 3 variants and two versions are available: MedGemma 4B and MedGemma 27B. The former is capable of processing both medical texts and images, while the latter is only for analyzing medical texts. Also, both of these versions are open source, making it easier for developers to adapt them for their needs and use cases.
Speaking of the key features, notably the two versions can be used for medical data analysis, summarizing texts, and answering medical-related questions. As pointed out, the MedGemma 4B version can be used to read and interpret X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs. Medical professionals like radiologists can thus generate reports much more quickly. On the other hand, the MedGemma 27B version can be used in scenarios where doctors have to summarize long patient records. Also, the two versions will be able to answer almost all medical related questions, concerning symptoms and medical options.
