At the beginning of this month, Anthropic introduced Claude for Word in beta for Team and Enterprise subscribers. Today, the company has officially announced that Claude for Word is now available on Pro and Max plans to use alongside Opus 4.7.

Claude for Word
Claude works inside your Word document instead of a separate window. It’s designed for professionals who work extensively with documents, particularly in legal review, financial memo drafting, and iterative editing. You can ask questions about your document and get answers with clickable section citations.
How do teams use Claude for Word?
- Work through your comments- Leave comments where you want changes. Claude reads them, edits the anchored text as a tracked change, and replies to the thread with updates.
- Draft in your template- Open your template and describe what you need. Claude writes in your heading and bullet styles, with citations back to source documents you upload.
- Check for consistency- Claude flags inconsistently defined terms, broken cross-references, and numbering errors across the full document. Fixes can be tracked for review.
- Rewrite what you select- Highlight a paragraph and tell Claude to tighten it, shift the tone, or cut passive voice. Only the selection changes, styles and numbering stay intact.
Claude’s changes appear as native Word tracked changes; users can accept or reject each one in Word’s review pane. You can edit one section without disturbing the rest. To use Claude for Word, you can sign in with a Claude account or connect through your existing cloud provider. It works within your existing compliance framework.
Also, when a counterparty returns a document with tracked changes, Claude can read and summarise what they changed. Claude returns thematic matches, not just keyword hits, and each result navigates to the relevant location or click.
Claude for Word is supported on the web, Windows (Microsoft 365 subscription, Version 2205/ Build 15202.10000 or later) and on Mac (version 16.61/ Build 22040100 or later).
