A new system software update for the PlayStation 5 users has now officially been announced by Sony, and the update is currently being rolled out in a phased manner. This means that not all users will be receiving the update in one go, and those who have not yet received it may get it soon on their respective consoles.

PlayStation 5 Users Receive New System Software Update
As per what has been shared, the new PlayStation 5 system software update carries the version number ‘26.04-13.40.00’, and as mentioned above, it is currently being rolled out in a phased manner. It should be noted that if the update has not yet been received by certain users, they may have to wait for some more time as the rollout will likely expand gradually.
Speaking more about the changelog, this new update brings improved system software performance and stability for the PlayStation 5 console. However, no new major features or changes have been introduced via this update, and the update only seems to be focused on improving the overall system software experience for users.
Furthermore, Sony has also shared the ways by which users can update their PS5 console system software. Users can set up automatic updates or manually update their system software by heading to Settings > System, and then selecting System Software > System Software Update and Settings. If a newer version is available, ‘Update Available’ will appear, following which users can select Update System Software to update their console.
