Sony confirms the arrival of PlayStation 5, releasing in 2020

The new PlayStation is arriving seven years after the PlayStation 4 was released

Confirming in a blog post, Sony announced that its next-generation console will be called the PlayStation 5, and it’ll be out next year, launching in time for Holiday 2020. The company also announced several changes that it’ll be making in the controller on the PS5. Most important among them is replacing the current rumble technology that Sony has been using since the original PlayStation for new haptic feedback technology.

Talking about it’s new tech, it will make the gameplay experience much better, so crashing into a wall in a race car will feel much different than making a tackle on the football field. The other big feature that Sony is talking about is a technology it’s calling ‘adaptive triggers’ which will go in the primary R2/L2 triggers on the PS5’s controller.

Reports in Wired also confirmed that the PS5’s controller will finally be making the jump to USB-C port for charging, an improved speaker and a different game installation process where instead of installing the whole game, the user will be able to install only a part of the game. The new PlayStation is arriving seven years after the PlayStation 4 was introduced so the expectations of gamers are very high.

Stay tuned for more updates.
