PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is reportedly looking for an Indian gaming firm to partner and reverse the ban it faced in India thanks to its ties with Tencent Games, a Chinese tech major.
Following the ban, South Korea-based Corporation has cut ties with Tencent Games.
According to a report by LiveMint, negotiations are going on to pass on the rights to an Indian gaming firm. This future partner will be handling the distribution of the game whereas PUBG Corporation will retain the publishing rights of the game.
It is to be noted that the Indian government banned 118 Chinese apps last week, including PUBG, on concerns over “stealing” of user data and for engaging in activities prejudicial to the country’s “sovereignty and integrity.”
In June, New Delhi banned 59 apps, including the Chinese short-video app TikTok.
