ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X coming this holiday 2025; Here are the features revealed

Recently, at the Xbox Games Showcase, two new gaming handhelds were revealed—ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, which were developed by Microsoft in collaboration with ASUS.

The handheld gaming PCs are revealed to arrive with an Xbox full-screen experience. They run a custom version of Windows 11 optimized for portable play. They come with an upgraded Game Bar which integrates Asus’s Armoury Crate, giving quick access to input controls and advanced device options. Game Bar can be accessed via the new Xbox button on the handhelds. Players also get access to an aggregated gaming library that lists their games from Xbox, Game Pass, Battle.net, and other PC storefronts.
With Xbox Play Anywhere, more than 1,000 games can be played across handheld devices. Roblox is optimized to run natively on the handhelds at launch. Built-in assistant, Gaming Copilot can be accessed via Game Bar, which helps with game launching, skill building and social connections. Microsoft is also collaborating with game developer partners on a new program that is designed to help identify the games optimized for handheld devices.
ROG Xbox Ally: Specs revealed
It includes contoured grips inspired by Xbox Wireless controllers, ABXY buttons, D-pad, L&R Hall Effect analog triggers, L&R bumpers, an Xbox button, a View button, a Menu button, a Command Center button, a Library button, 2x assignable back buttons, 2x full-size analog sticks, HD haptics and 6-axis IMU.
The handheld device is powered by an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor. It offers 16GB LPDDR5X-6400 RAM and 512GB M.2 280 SSD. It features a 7-inch IPS display that offers FHD screen resolution, 500 nits brightness, 120Hz refresh rate and 16:9 aspect ratio. The display comes with FreeSync Premium, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and Corning DXC Anti-Reflection. It supports WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity. It is backed by a 60Wh battery and includes a 65W charger stand.
I/O ports include- 2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C with DisplayPort 1.4/ PD 3.0, 1x UHS-II microSD card reader, and 1x 3.5mm combo audio jack. It measures 290.8×121.5×50.7mm and weighs 670g.

It features a 7-inch IPS display that offers FHD screen resolution, 500 nits brightness, 120Hz refresh rate and 16:9 aspect ratio. The display comes with FreeSync Premium, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and Corning DXC Anti-Reflection. It supports WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity. It is backed by an 80Wh battery and arrives with a 65W charger stand.

ROG Xbox Ally & ROG Xbox Ally X: Availability
These handhelds will be launched this holiday season. They will be available in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, UK and US.
They will be made available in more markets later, particularly in regions where ROG Ally products are already offered.
