Ola Shakti Officially Introduced in India as the Country’s First Energy Storage Product

Ola Electronics has now introduced Ola Shakti as India’s very first energy storage product. As per what has been revealed, the brand has released this new product to address the energy challenge that the country is currently facing.
Here’s more about it.
Ola Shakti – Officially Introduced in India
The Ola Shakti is India’s first residential Battery Energy Storage System or BESS, and it has been completely designed, engineered, and manufactured within the country. Speaking more, 4680 Bharat cells are equipped within the device for efficiently storing energy. The manufacturing of the brand’s first non-vehicle product will be taking place at its Tamil Nadu Gigafactory. Notably, this latest update was shared by OLA Electric Managing Director and Chairman – Bhavish Aggarwal himself on X.
As of now, in India, solar generation takes place during day time while more power is consumed at night. This imbalance in storing and utilizing power causes strain on the power grid, and it is this issue that Ola’s Shakti tries to address and resolve. The brand believes that from the current situation of instant power consumption, one out of every two electrons that are generated can be stored in the future, which can later be used when it is needed. Also, with India’s BESS marked to reach 3 trillion by 2030, Ola Electric executives believe that the consumption of BESS annually is expected to hit 5GWh soon.
Regarding its availability, the pre-reservation is currently open for Indian customers for INR 999, and its deliveries are scheduled to begin next year in 2026. Four variants of 1.5kWh, 3kWh, 5.2kWh, and 9.1kWh will be available and their first 10,000 units will be offered at respective prices of INR 29,999, INR 55,999, INR 1,19,999, and INR 1,59,999.
