Xiaomi 18 Fold With XRING O3 Chipset and World’s First CXMT LPDDR6 RAM Launched in China

Following several teasers, it is now official as Xiaomi has launched the Xiaomi 18 Fold in its home market, China, alongside the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max. Interestingly, both devices feature the same XRING O3 chipset.

However, in this article, we will be taking a look at the newly launched Xiaomi 18 Fold itself.

Here’s more about it.

Xiaomi 18 Fold – Specifications and Features

Well, the device was earlier expected to arrive as the Xiaomi MIX Fold 5, but Xiaomi has chosen a different naming strategy this time by introducing it as the Xiaomi 18 Fold, thereby bringing its foldable smartphone under the numbered Xiaomi 18 series.

Starting with the displays, the Xiaomi 18 Fold features a 5.38-inch outer display and a larger 7.58-inch inner foldable display. Both come with a full RGB pixel arrangement and offer up to 4,000 nits peak brightness.

Under the hood, the foldable is powered by Xiaomi’s in-house XRING O3 AI flagship SoC, featuring a 10-core all-big-core CPU architecture, a 16-core GPU, and an NPU based on a native large-model architecture.

The smartphone boots Xiaomi HyperOS 4 out of the box.

Coming to the memory configurations, the 12GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB, and 16GB + 512GB variants feature LPDDR5X RAM paired with UFS 4.1 storage. Meanwhile, the top-end 16GB + 1TB configuration exclusively comes with CXMT LPDDR6 RAM clocked at 10,667Mbps, along with UFS 4.1 storage. Also, Xiaomi is going to source this RAM option not only from CXMT, but also from SK hynix.

The device also features a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port.

Speaking of cameras, Xiaomi has once again co-developed the imaging system with Leica. The Xiaomi 18 Fold comes with a Leica-tuned triple rear camera setup consisting of a 200MP Samsung HP5 primary camera with OIS, a 50MP OV50M ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP JN5 periscope telephoto camera with OIS.

The camera system also features the Leica Summilux optical system. For selfies and video calls, the smartphone comes with 16MP cameras on both the inner and outer displays.

Coming to the battery, the Xiaomi 18 Fold packs a 6,000mAh Xiaomi Jinshajiang battery, along with support for 67W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.

Despite packing a large battery and foldable hardware, the smartphone weighs 219g and measures just 5.02mm in thickness when unfolded.

Speaking more about its construction, Xiaomi has equipped the device with its new-generation Dragon Bone hinge, which uses a three-stage connecting-rod structure and offers full hinge protection.

The outer UTG glass measures 50μm, with Xiaomi claiming a 178% improvement in reliability, while the inner UTG glass measures 30μm and is claimed to offer a 29% improvement in impact resistance.

The Xiaomi 18 Fold has been introduced in Red, Black, and Warm Gold White colour options. A special Ceramic Edition has also been launched.
