The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi will be unveiling its all-new foldable device, Xiaomi 18 Fold, next month in China. Pre-reservations for this device have already started in the country.
Previously, it was confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Fold will be the first to feature Xiaomi’s latest Xring O3 chipset. Looks like the Xiaomi 18 Fold will be arriving with many firsts in the market.
Xiaomi 18 Fold: Memory details revealed
The upcoming foldable device will be the world’s first to feature CXMT’s LPDDR6 memory.
Last month, a report revealed that the chip shortage is expected to last till Q1 2028. It was tipped that Chinese brands like CXMT and YMTC are stockpiling memory to flood the market in the future. This move was said to bring slight relief from rising memory prices.
CXMT has now officially announced that its LPDDR6 memory enters mass production, and the upcoming Xiaomi 18 Fold will debut with it.
In the coming days, Xiaomi is expected to reveal the launch date, design and some key highlights of this upcoming foldable smartphone.
In related news, it was previously reported that Apple is also seeking US government approval to buy CXMT chips for its devices. The current chip shortage and rising memory/ storage prices seem to be opening the way for new chip manufacturers in the market.
