Sony Xperia New Product Announcement to be made on 13th May; Xperia 1 VIII smartphone could be introduced

Last year, Sony hosted its Xperia Product Announcement on 13^th May and introduced the Xperia 1 VII smartphone. This year, the Xperia New Product announcement will be held on the same date (13^th May).

The event will be live-streamed on Sony Xperia’s YouTube channel on 13^th May at 11:00 Japan Time/ 4:00 CEST. The company has not confirmed which device will be introduced, but in the caption, it is mentioned “Make way for our next epic Xperia,” hinting towards the Xperia 1 VIII smartphone. The teaser image suggests the inclusion of three rear camera sensors.

Previously, the Sony Xperia 1 VIII was accidentally listed on Amazon in both Germany and the UK, though now the listing has been removed. In these regions, the release date was listed for 26^th June, while the device was listed for €1,868.99 in Germany and £1,728 in the UK. These prices included a pair of Sony headphones along with the phone.

According to reports, the upcoming device may feature a 6.5-inch FHD+ OLED display that offers a 120Hz refresh rate. It is said to be equipped with a 16mm ultrawide camera, a 24mm main camera and a 70mm telephoto camera on the rear side. It was revealed to include Xperia AI, a 3.5mm headphone jack and 2-day battery life. The colour options included: Graphite Black, Iolite silver and Garnet red.
