The Japanese tech maker – Sony has now announced the arrival of its next smartphone model, and the launch is scheduled to take place early next week. From what it appears, the brand is going to unveil its latest Xperia 1 VII smartphone.

Sony Xperia 1 VII – Launching on 13th May 2025
On the coming 13th of May 2025 at 11:00 Japan time/04:00 CEST, Sony will be announcing its next Xperia smartphone device and from the tagline – ‘The next ONE is coming’, this launch announcement is confirmed to be for the upcoming Xperia 1 VII flagship. Also to add, the teaser poster for the event has been spotted on the brand’s Japanese and German official websites, pointing out the launch in these two global markets as well. The YouTube teaser video also reveals that it will be powered by Alpha, ensuring true quality and real emotions in the pictures captured.
Speaking more about the Xperia 1 VII, it will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and its listings (Geekbench and FCC) revealed more specs like Android 15 OS, 12GB RAM, 5000 mAh battery (4850 mAh rated value), and 162 x 74.5 x 8.5 mm dimension.
Other expected specs of the smartphone include the 6.5″ OLED display screen with 4K resolution, 48MP (main, OIS) + 12MP (ultra-wide) + 12MP (periscope telephoto, 70 – 200mm variable zoom) triple rear camera system, and 12MP selfie camera. A tall design is also expected to be retained this time too, along with a flat frame. The shutter button, dual front-facing speakers, 3.5mm audio jack, microSD card slot, and USB type-C port are also expected to be its key specs.
