Redmi K90 Ultra With Snapdragon 8 Elite, 165Hz Display, 8550mAh Battery and Redmi Over-Ear Headphones With 40mm Drivers, 42dB ANC, 72-Hour Battery Launched in China

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has launched two new devices in its home market China. One of them is the Redmi K90 Ultra, the successor to the Redmi K80 Ultra, while the other one is Redmi’s very first over-ear headphones, which are the Redmi Headphones Neo that were released recently in the Japanese market.

Redmi K90 Ultra – Specs and Pricing
This newly launched handset is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which is built on TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process. The chipset features an octa-core CPU with a maximum clock speed of 4.32GHz, Adreno GPU, and Qualcomm AI Engine support. Also to add, the AI gaming dedicated graphics chip D2, built on TSMC’s 12nm process, supports simultaneous super-resolution, frame interpolation, and super graphics/Ultra HDR. It also supports 1.5K resolution gaming enhancement.
The device comes equipped with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 high-speed storage. It is offered in 12GB and 16GB RAM options, along with 256GB and 512GB storage choices, with the highest variant being 16GB + 512GB.
Regarding its design, the Redmi K90 Ultra measures 162.91 x 77.93 x 8.18 mm and weighs 227 grams. The smartphone has been launched in three colour options – Space Silver, Sky Blue, and Shadow Black.

Coming to its display, the Redmi K90 Ultra features a 6.83″ AMOLED flat display with 2772 x 1280 pixels resolution and up to 165Hz refresh rate. It also supports up to 480Hz touch report rate, up to 3500Hz instant touch sampling rate, P3 wide colour gamut, 1 nit minimum brightness, 3500 nits multi-scene peak brightness, full-brightness DC dimming, 12-bit colour depth, 68.7 billion colours, HDR10+, HDR Vivid, Dolby Vision, professional primary colour display, and multi-screen colour consistency. In addition to this, the device also comes with a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and Wet Hand Touch 2.0 support.
For battery, the Redmi K90 Ultra packs an 8550mAh Xiaomi Jinshajiang battery, with a minimum rated capacity of 8380mAh. It supports 100W wired fast charging, 22.5W wired reverse charging, Xiaomi Surge P3 charging chip, Xiaomi Surge G2 battery management chip, PD2.0 and PD3.0 fast charging protocols, and a USB Type-C charging port. The device also comes with a 100W low-power-consumption GaN charger in the box. It features an air-cooled cooling system, which has an 18.1mm fan with forward-tilted fan blades offering 0.42CFM maximum airflow. It also uses a simulated vortex air duct with low air resistance to avoid turbulence, while the vertical air intake directly cools the SoC. Despite the active cooling setup, the device is claimed to operate at an ultra-quiet 32dB noise level.
In terms of cameras, the smartphone features a 50MP high-sensitivity main camera with Light Hunter 800 sensor, f/1.68 aperture, 1/1.55″ sensor size, 13.2EV high dynamic range, 2.0μm fused large pixels, 6P lens, and three-axis closed-loop OIS. This is paired with an 8MP ultra-wide camera with 1/4″ sensor size, f/2.2 aperture, and 5P lens. For selfies, the device comes with a 20MP front-facing camera.
The Redmi K90 Ultra also comes with a 6000mm² large cooling pump, new symmetrical dual speakers, Xiaomi Qingshan Eye Protection 3.0, Xiaomi Surge T1+ signal enhancement chip, IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, and runs on Xiaomi HyperOS 3.

Redmi Headphones Neo – Specs and Pricing
Along with the Redmi K90 Ultra, the brand has also launched its first over-ear noise-cancelling headphones in China. The Redmi Headphones Neo are available in three colour options – Jazz Blue, Rock Black, and Symphony White, and will be available at a first sale effective price of ¥297. The first sale offer will be available from the 30th of June to the 7th of July.
About its key specs, the Redmi Headphones Neo feature 40mm large titanium-plated dynamic drivers, which are said to improve transient response speed and deliver stronger sound output. It also comes with an independent acoustic chamber design, aimed at reducing crosstalk and offering cleaner sound quality. Also to add, flagship tuning, lossless wired audio transmission, Sound ID custom sound effects, and four EQ sound modes are also supported on the device.

For noise cancellation, the headphones come with Xiaomi Deep Space Noise Cancellation and support up to 42dB active noise cancellation. Users will also be able to choose between multiple noise cancellation modes, including Deep mode, Balanced mode, and Light mode. In addition to this, three-mic AI call noise reduction is also present, with support for up to 5m/s wind noise resistance during calls.
Speaking more about comfort, the Redmi Headphones Neo feature skin-friendly protein leather ear cushions, which are stain-resistant, easy to clean, and filled with slow-rebound sponge. A metal adjustable headband has also been given, which is designed to improve durability and reduce discomfort during long usage. The headphones further feature a multi-axis foldable design for easy storage and physical buttons for easier controls.
Coming to battery and connectivity, the Redmi Headphones Neo are claimed to offer up to 72 hours of battery life. With just 10 minutes of charging, users will be able to get up to 5 hours of music playback. Xiaomi HyperConnect features such as Smart Find, notification broadcast, audio switching, audio sharing, quick connection, and dual-device connection are also supported.
