OnePlus Open is the name of OnePlus’ first foldable phone, reveals reliable tipster

OnePlus will announce its first foldable phone in August of this year. A recent report claimed that it would go official in the first half of August. So far, the rumour mill has been calling it by different names, such as the OnePlus V Fold or the OnePlus Fold. Today, tipster Max Jambor, who has been a reliable source for OnePlus leaks, revealed that OnePlus’ first foldable phone will be called the OnePlus Open when it arrives in the market.

According to Jambor, OnePlus trademarked the OnePlus Open moniker in 2020. Sibling brand OPPO is also said to be working on the OPPO Find N3 foldable phone. In all likelihood, the foldable smartphone will be announced in August in China. Rumours are rife that the Find N3 will be rebranded as a OnePlus device in markets outside of China. Here is a look at the rumoured specifications of the OnePlus Open.

Reports have revealed that the OnePlus Open will arrive with an 8.02-inch foldable AMOLED screen on the inside and a 6.5-inch AMOLED display on the outside. The inner screen will offer a Quad HD+ resolution, while the outer display will produce a Full HD+ resolution. Both displays will offer a 120Hz refresh rate. The OnePlus Open will run on Android 13 OS and OxygenOS 13.1.

The rear camera setup of the OnePlus Open will comprise a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 primary camera with OIS support. It will be coupled with a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with OIS and 5x optical zoom support. The foldable phone will have a 32-megapixel selfie camera on the front and a 20-megapixel snapper on the inner screen.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset will be at the helm of the OnePlus Open. It will be coupled with 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. It will house a 4,805mAh battery with 80W charging and 50W wireless charging. It will offer other features, such as a side-facing fingerprint scanner and an IP rating.
