Earlier, Sony had teased the launch of a new pair of headphones, following which a leak had surfaced claiming that it could be the 1000X THE COLLEXION headphones. Well, this has now been officially confirmed as the brand itself has announced the new headphones in select global markets. Along with this, Sony has also introduced a new Sandstone colour option for the WH-1000XM6 headphones as part of the 10th anniversary celebration of its popular 1000X series.

Sony ColleXion Headphones – Specs and Features

As per the details shared by Sony, the newly-announced 1000X THE COLLEXION headphones have been designed using premium materials with a focus on refined design, comfort, and immersive sound quality. The headphones feature metal accents with matte sandblasted texture, hand-polished gloss finish, and soft vegan leather material that reportedly took two years to develop.

The headphones are offered in Platinum and Black colour options, and Sony says the ergonomic structure, wider cushioned headband, and specially-designed earcups are aimed at delivering better comfort during longer listening sessions.

On the audio side, the headphones feature a newly-developed driver unit with a high-rigidity dome made using unidirectional carbon composite material. Sony claims this helps in delivering clearer instrument separation, improved high-frequency details, and a wider soundstage. The company has also worked with GRAMMY award-winning and nominated mastering engineers for tuning purposes.

Notably, the 1000X THE COLLEXION becomes the first headphone to feature Sony’s DSEE Ultimate technology that uses Edge-AI for upscaling compressed digital music files in real time. Support for 360 Reality Audio Upmix has also been expanded with Music, Cinema, and Game modes.

Apart from these, the headphones also pack the same noise cancellation technologies found on the WH-1000XM6, including Multi-Noise Sensor technology with 12 microphones and Adaptive NC Optimizer support. Sony further notes that users will also get up to 24 hours of battery life, improved call quality, intuitive controls, and seamless connectivity features.

Sony WH-1000XM6 – New Colour Announcement

Other than the Sony ColleXion, Sony has also introduced a new Sandstone colour variant for the WH-1000XM6 headphones. This new shade joins the existing lineup while retaining all the same specifications and features.

Regarding availability, the 1000X THE COLLEXION headphones are now available in Platinum and Black colour variants, priced at $649.99 in the US and CAD 849.99 in Canada ( Sony,  Best Buy, and Amazon).
