Edgar Berlanga is back in the ring after ripping his bicep last year, and Fat Joe is escorting him to the squared circle next Saturday at Madison Square Garden.
The 24-year-old power puncher told TMZ Sports that headlining in his birthplace of New York feels unreal after rehabilitating from a torn left biceps injury.
“It still feels fake,” Edgar told us. “I still feel like I’m the undercard of another fighter, but I’m a happy man.”
And he won’t just have Joe — a NYC icon — by his side as he makes his way to the ring… Edgar claims that a slew of celebs, from artists to hoopers, have contacted him for ticket information.
According to the New York native, rappers Fabolous, Jim Jones, Maino, and Dave East are also making their way to MSG to witness him fight.
We last saw Edgar – as “The Chosen One” – in a ring in October 2021, when he won a 10-round unanimous decision over Marcelo Esteban Coceres after surviving a knockdown earlier in the fight.
Edgar, who began his professional career with 16 consecutive first-round knockouts (unreal), says he knew the day would come when the streak would stop, but he’s not worried because he wants the ring time.
Berlanga will defend his undefeated 18-0 (16 KO) record when he walks into the ring against veteran boxer Steve Rolls.
“I’m looking to blow up on March 19th, bro! As I usually say, get your popcorn ready, because there’s fire on the way.”
The bout will take place on ESPN+ on March 19th!
