Rent Waivers for IT Companies operating out of Software Tech Parks – Government Said

A big relief of Rent Waivers in the harshest time of Coronavirus came to the IT sector by the Indian Government. No rent to be charged from IT companies operating out of Software Tech Parks till June.

“IT units/ startups operating from 60 STPI Centers across India have been granted waiver from paying rental for period between 01.03.2020 and 30.06.2020. This will benefit nearly 200 small & medium IT/ITeS units supporting 3000 direct jobs.” –
Union minister of electronics and IT, Ravi Shankar Prasad

The estimated cost of such a waiver will be around Rs. 5 Crore and will be for 4 months starting from 1st March 2020 to 30th June 2020.

This step of the rent waiver will help a lot of Tech Companies. There are around 60 STPI centers and around 200 IT companies are operating from these centers. This move will help around 2000-3000 employees who are directly employed by these companies.
