Xiaomi has issued a statement on Twitter today, in this statement, the company has clarified the situation regarding Chinese apps banned in its smartphone. The company has informed in the tweet that no app banned by the Indian government is present in the Xiaomi smartphone launched in India. Apart from this, it has also been said that the MIUI Cleaner app no longer uses the banned Clean Master app. Let me tell you, recently many Chinese apps have been banned in India, including Mi Browser and Mi Community app etc.
A tweet from Xiaomi’s official Mi India Twitter account has been shared today, through which the Chinese tech company has clarified its position on the questions of data privacy and security arising with banned Chinese apps. The company has said that the Xiaomi phones do not access any of the apps banned by the Indian government, apart from this, the company is working on a new version of MIUI in which no banned apps will come pre-installed. This new version will start rolling out in Faiz Manor in the coming weeks.
Talking about the problem of Clean Master app, Xiaomi said in a tweet that his MIUI Cleaner app uses only industry definition, which is necessary for its functioning. It states that Clean Master is a common industry name and Xiaomi does not use the Banned Clean Master App in India for its operating system. However, now the MIUI Cleaner app has been updated and the industry definition has been removed. If the app does not update automatically, users can also update it manually.
This post also said that from the year 2018, data of Indian users is being stored on the local server, which is not shared with any other country. In the end, Xiaomi also said that all their upcoming smartphones will come with updated software, which will not include any banned apps.
