Wing Commander Harshit Sinha has lost his life in the crash, during a training attack in which the pilot was killed. This is the fifth MiG-21 crash this year, involving the Russian-origin MiG-21.
Further than 400 MiG-21s have been involved in accidents that have claimed the lives of further than 200 aviators during the last six decades, earning the fighters portentous epithets similar as “ Flying Pall” and “ Widow Maker”.
