We are seeing rising attacks on people in places of worship in India: says Antony Blinken
On Thursday, Antony Blinken claimed that there are rising attacks on people in place of worship in India, a home to great diversity.
Antony made this declaration as he liberated the 2021 reports on International religious freedom.
Blinken said, ‘Some governments continue to use blasphemy laws, other curtail expressions of religious beliefs like restrictions on religious attire.’
He continued, ‘All societies including our own and across Europe must do more to combat rising forms of hate.’
‘In Pakistan, at least 16 individuals accused of Blasphemy were sentenced to death by courts in 2021, but these sentences are yet to be carried out in India.’
‘The world’s largest democracy and home to great diversity of faiths, we are seeing rising attacks on people in places of worship in India’, Blinken added.
However, the annual reports of Congress on Religious Freedom describes the status of religious Freedom in every country.
Additionally, the reports cover government policies contravening religious beliefs and practices of people, religious denominations and individuals and U.S. policies to increase religious freedom around the world.
Likewise, the U.S. department of State submits the reports in pursuance with the international Religious Freedom Act of 1998.
