Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai to be conferred with Padma Bhushan on 73rd Republic Day

Padma Bhushan awards will be given to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, and Serum Institute of India (SII) MD Cyrus Poonawalla.

After the Bharat Ratna and Padma Vibhushan, the Padma Bhushan is India’s third-highest civilian award.

Padma Vibhushan (for extraordinary and distinguished service), Padma Bhushan (for distinguished service of higher-order), and Padma Shri (for distinguished service of higher-order) are the three categories of Padma Awards (distinguished service). The award is intended to recognise accomplishments in all fields or disciplines where public service is a factor.

On the eve of the 73rd Republic Day, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced the Padma Awards 2022.

Microsoft’s Chairman and CEO is Satya Nadella. In February of 2014, he was named CEO.

He had previously held executive positions in the company’s enterprise and consumer sectors. Nadella is a native of Hyderabad, India, who now resides in Bellevue, Washington. He graduated from Mangalore University with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, a master’s degree in computer science, and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago. Padma Awards, one of the country’s highest civilian honours, are divided into three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri.

Art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medical, literature and education, sports, civil service, and other disciplines/fields of activity are among those recognised. The Padma Vibhushan is given for extraordinary and distinguished service, whereas the Padma Bhushan is given for distinguished service of high order and the Padma Shri is given for distinguished service in any field.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the prizes are announced every year on Republic Day. These honours are bestowed by the President of India at ceremonial occasions held at Rashtrapati Bhawan every year around March/April. The President has approved the conferral of 128 Padma Awards this year, including two pair cases.
