Elon Musk confirms that no motorbikes will be coming in Tesla

Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, has stated that the company will not produce any electric motorcycles. When asked if Tesla has any ambitions to make electric motorcycles, Musk flatly stated that it will not happen. During Tesla’s 2018 shareholder meeting, a member of the audience questioned Musk if the company had ever considered getting into the motorcycle market. Musk answered by adding that he and his brother used to ride motorcycles all the time when they were younger for approximately eight years, but a near-death experience will prevent the electric car firm from entering the electric motorbike market.

“I used to ride motorcycles as a kid, dirt-biking for around eight years. Then, until I was 17, I rode a road bike and was nearly murdered by a truck “Musk stated the following. “As a result, we’re not doing motorcycles.”

The idea of a Tesla battery-powered motorcycle has been floated before, and it would have made sense, especially since the future of the two-wheeler sector, like that of cars and other automobiles, appears to be leaning towards the electric space. And an electric motorcycle from a firm with Tesla’s brand image would have sparked a lot of consumer attention, if not sales, for the electric carmaker.

Constructing an electric motorcycle and improving it while adapting to fast-changing battery technology would have been a lot easier than, say, making a car, which would have to go through extensive crash tests every time the structural design was changed. And, with increased interest in electric motorcycles, including huge brands like Harley-Davidson, it’s not just Tesla’s loss, but the consumer’s as well, to not have an electric motorcycle from a brand like Tesla.
