Vodafone Idea to launch its 5G services tomorrow in Delhi NCR; Company plans to rollout 5G service in all 17 priority circles by August 2025

After launching its high-speed 5G internet services in Mumbai, Chandigarh, and Patna, telecom company Vodafone Idea will now be launching its 5G high-speed services in Delhi NCR from 15th May.

For Delhi NCR, Vi has partnered with Ericsson to build its next-gen 5G infrastructure, which offers enhanced energy efficiency and lighter hardware. In its press release, Ericsson has revealed that Vi has deployed energy-efficient and lightweight Ericsson Radio System products, such as mid-band Massive MIMO antenna-integrated radios AIR 3268 and AIR 3255 to ensure best-in-class network performance.

Vi has also deployed AI-powered Self-Organising Network (SON) technology to further optimize network performance and uses a 5G Non-StandAlone (NSA) architecture, ensuring smooth transitions between 4G and 5G for users seamless experience.

It is revealed that in Mumbai, 70% of eligible users are already experiencing Vi’s 5G services, and 20% of its data traffic is already being carried on the 5G network. Now eligible users in Delhi NCR will be able to experience Vi 5G on their device for streaming, gaming, video conferencing, faster downloads, and real-time cloud access.

Vi’s 5G introductory offer includes unlimited data for users with 5G enabled devices on plans starting from Rs 299.

Vodafone Idea plans to roll out 5G in 17 priority circles, where it has acquired 5G spectrum, by August 2025. Cities like Bengaluru and Mysuru are next on the map, with rollouts underway across other key markets in the remaining circles.
