TRAI suggested government to fix the minimum speed of broadband from 512 Kbps to 2Mbps

With every passing day broadband subscribers are increasing in India and according to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) data for November 2022 there were a total of 825.4 million broadband subscribers in India. Out of the total subscribers, 793.5 users were wireless subscribers, and 825.4 were broadband subscribers.

Now the TRAI has brought good news for the broadband subscribers in India who will soon be getting higher speed internet than previous. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has recently suggested the government revise the minimum broadband speed from 512kbps to 2Mbps. This means that broadband service providers will have to ensure that subscribers get the minimum speed of 2Mbps.

On the path of creating a larger digital economy, this is a major step by the Indian Government to give a boost to it. And this year is itself going to be an important year for the government as India is holding the G20 Summit in various cities of India. Speed connectivity of broadband and 5G service will be adding value to this.

If we talk about the speed of the internet in other countries, in the US the broadband internet should provide a 25Mbps download speed. In Germany, the broadband speed should be higher or equal to 144 Kbps download speed.
