The telecom company Reliance Jio launched JioPC in India yesterday. Previously, JioPC was limited to JioHome broadband subscribers, but it is now available as a standalone subscription across India.

JioPC is a computer-as-a-subscription offering that provides fast, secure, and high-performance computing without requiring expensive hardware. It is designed to update itself, minimise the need for repairs and maintenance, and keep users’ files and data secure. It supports a wide range of use cases, from work and learning to content creation and trading, making high-performance computing more accessible and affordable.
Users can access their JioPC account from any computer, from anywhere and using a web browser. Setup/upgrade takes less than 5 minutes. It can also turn a TV into a PC with a Jio set-top box, keyboard and mouse.
JioPC runs Ubuntu/Linux with LibreOffice and browser-based apps, but Windows-specific software may not be available natively. Also, with JioPC, offline use isn’t possible like a traditional PC.
