The telecom company Bharti Airtel provides an unlimited 5G data offer on certain postpaid and prepaid plans to users who have a 5G phone and access to Airtel 5G Plus. If you are an Airtel user, you might be aware that the company does not allow you to share this unlimited 5G data via a hotspot.
Airtel has now explicitly mentioned this clause in its Unlimited 5G Data offer Terms & Conditions
According to the company, this Unlimited 5G Data offer is meant for personal and non-commercial use only. Sharing of data where the customer has activated the Unlimited 5G Data shall not be allowed via mobile hotspots.
This means any data used while connecting another device via hotspot will be from your regular plan quota. That makes the Unlimited 5G data offer restricted as a phone-only benefit.
This is a bit different from what Reliance Jio offers. Jio users who have access to Unlimited 5G data can share the connection through a mobile hotspot.
Currently, Airtel offers 5G NSA (enhanced 4G-based network), but it is rumoured that Airtel will start upgrading to 5G SA (standalone 5G network). Even after this upgrade, it is not clear whether Unlimited 5G data sharing via mobile hotspot will be allowed for Airtel users or not.
